~WHERE?
After a two year layoff from Mt. Tamalpais, the 22nd
annual campout is heading back up to Mt. Tam to have
some fun at the beaches of California! In 2005 we were
in Yosemite, and in 2006 we were in Samuel P Taylor,
but Mt Tamalpais State Park will be the setting for
the 2007 adventure into the wild redwoods of Marin County!
Nothing new here but the lush redwoods and trails that
most runners long for! We will run up the back side
of the mountains behind the camp, into the valley of
Muir Woods, to the 2971' peak of Mt Tam itself, and
also venture to the coast to our classic beach get away
- Stinson Beach, just 15 minutes from our camp-site.
What a blast!
~WHEN? Printable
Trail Map(PDF) Tuesday,
Aug 14 through Friday, Aug 17
are this year's dates. Meet at AHS Parking Lot in front
of BIG GYM at 9:10 a.m. on the 14th ....AND -- get there
on time, so we can pack up everything and get out of
town in an orderly fashion ASAP. PLEASE GAS UP PRIOR
TO COMING for those of you driving! We will be arriving
home on the Friday the 17th between 2-3 p.m. all by
car pool BACK AT SAME AHS PARKING LOT . If parents can
still help out with car pooling, this helps out a lot
and we ALWAYS need drivers every year – so please
help us! Call Coach Mike or Coach Amanda for more info.
~WHY? To have
lots of fun as a team while running and getting into
awesome shape! This trip makes our team become a closer
group while getting in better super shape with all the
hills, and builds up great team camaraderie. Not only
do we get lots of running & training logged in,
but the camp’s focus is to educate every Panther
Strider about the great sport that they are involved
in, distance running. This trip also is an educational
trip with regards to where we will be, the great outdoors
along with our national treasures, the U.S. National
Parks and Monuments. Bring some extra money for park
souvenirs!

~WHAT? We will
be running on some of the greatest trail systems in
California, if not the U.S. As stated above, the trails
are lush with redwoods, oaks, pines, coolness, &
shade. The scenery at the coast is breath-taking, and
once you visit, you’ll want to go back. Each day
is exciting and adventurous and the runs will always
be followed by a hearty meal near the fire at the Camp.
~COST?
For Panther Strider members, the
2007 fee of $90 includes your current Panther Strider
dues ( which are from 7/1/07 - $20). (Check for family
rate of more than one athlete in family) The fees also
include all meals (except bag lunch on the first day
that you MUST provide), transportation, campsite fees,
park fees, tolls, stationary, photos, clinics, and other
miscellaneous items. All FINAL
fees are due by FRIDAY
August 10th, at run time. The money
needs to be up front so that groceries and camp supplies
can be bought for the trip ahead of time. Many running
camps around the country cost in excess of $450-500
up to 5 days per person, so for $90 dollars and for
a great and memorable time, this is a great deal. Plus
you are running with all your friends, coaches, &
teammates! So do not miss this opportunity to help yourself
become successful for those fall races of the 2007 XC
season and to have great fun at the same! It is a trip
for the history books!
